How should you start preparing yourself and your belongings for the beginning of the summer cottage season? Begin by understanding what you need to take to the cottage and selecting the appropriate items and packaging.
Create a list and gather items in a designated area prepared for the move. It’s best to pack small items into large cardboard boxes. Visit small shops and stores, and it’s also a good idea to check with pharmacies where you can get these boxes for free and in excellent condition. Place items that are hard to break into clear bags, layering them several times for added protection.
Pack televisions and monitors in their original cardboard boxes. If you have time, reinforce the screens and monitors with additional soft plastic padding, or simply wrap them in old newspapers.
The entire package should be sealed with adhesive tape to minimize the risk of it opening during handling and transportation when moving to your summer cottage.
Cabinets should be disassembled to simplify transportation and minimize volume. Secure the panels together in groups of 2-3 to facilitate loading during the move, but be mindful of the weight; do not stack more than 2-3 panels together. Overexertion is possible while working, so the recommended weight for a bundle of panels is between 20-30 kg. Follow safety guidelines!
It is recommended to individually wrap the ready-to-move and assembled 2-3 panels in cardboard or bubble wrap to prevent any damage, such as chips or scratches, during the move.
When moving, all belongings, as well as construction materials (boards, beams, cement, etc.), are transported by truck. Therefore, special attention should be paid to valuable and expensive items during the move.
